The Resolute desk, also known as the Hayes desk, is a nineteenth-century partners desk used by several presidents of the United States in the White House as the Oval Office desk, including the five most recent presidents. The desk was a gift from Queen Victoria to President Rutherford B. Hayes in 1880 and was built from the oak timbers of the British Arctic exploration ship HMS Resolute. The 1,300-pound (590-kilogram) desk was created by William Evenden, a skilled joiner at Chatham Dockyard in Kent, probably from a design by Morant, Boyd, & Blanford. Jimmy Deak

Jimmy Deak, age 68, went home to be with the Lord on December 19, 2020. Born in Akron, he lived in Mogadore most of his life and graduated from Mogadore High School in 1971. Jimmy retired from Rootstown Schools after 16 years of service. He was an avid drag racer with a passion for ’62 Chevy cars, which he passed on to his son. Jimmy was a “jack of all trades” and he enjoyed helping others. Preceded in death by his father, John Deak; and mother, Nell Deak (Phillips), Jimmy is survived by his beloved son and best friend, John; brother, Roger (Laura) Deak; and sister, Patricia (Larry) Long; and ex-wife, Cindy. A Memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 29th at the Hopkins Lawver MOGADORE Funeral Home, 34 S. Cleveland Avenue (Route 532), Mogadore, Ohio 44260 with Pastor Gregory Royce officiating. Friends and family will be received prior to the service on Tuesday, from 5 to 7 p.m. Masks and social distancing protocols will be observed. Patricia A. Deak

CANFIELD - Patricia A. Deak, 82, passed away Saturday evening, December 10, 2022, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital with her family by her side.

Patricia was born March 9, 1940, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Frank DelGenio and Ann Volsko DelGenio and was a lifelong area resident.

She was a 1958 graduate of Girard High School and subsequently attended Youngstown State University where she earned a business degree.

At the age of 16, Pat started working for the G.M. McKelvey Company where she was a Jingle Bell Associate. Following graduation, she worked for General Fireproofing Company in the Purchasing Department and then worked for Albee Homes, Inc., while raising her family. In 1970, Pat started working for Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield as an Auditor and was later promoted to Supervisor of Claims Payment and then becoming a Quality Auditor, a position she held until her retirement in 2007.

After retiring, Patricia went to work for Community Home Medical in the Accounts Receivable Department and also worked for the Austintown Local Schools as a
