Early Life and Career
Fred Bear was born on March 5, 1902, in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania. His family moved to Michigan when he was a child, and it was there that he developed a love for the outdoors. He started hunting and fishing at a young age, and by the time he was a teenager, he was already an accomplished marksman.
In 1927, Fred Bear started working for the Michigan-based archery company, the Bear Archery Company. He quickly became one of the company’s top salesmen and was eventually promoted to vice president. During his time at the company, he helped to develop many of the modern archery techniques that are still used today.
