Buehner biography

Caralyn Buehner grew up as a book lover, which she credits with developing fluency as a writer. She began writing for children after her husband, Mark, established his career as a picture book illustrator, and they have been collaborating on books for over 30 years, including the NYT bestselling Snowmen at Night book series and Boston Globe Honor Award winner, Fanny’s Dream. While raising a family, and being a firm believer in reading aloud, she spent many, many hours in libraries with her children, reading “a lot of picture books. A lot.” She is fascinated with the emotion between written lines, how subtle word and punctuation choices affect storytelling, and how much of a story can be told inside the pictures. She loves how Mark’s immense talent not only brings her stories to joyous life, but adds so much richness to them, and how the whimsy in the details and hidden pictures captures readers of all ages. She loves windows, dark chocolate, and being a mom and grandma.
