Nguyen Cao Ky Duyen or Ky Duyen was born on June 30 to one of the most flamboyant Vietnamese leaders of the 1960's, general/vice president Nguyen Cao Ky. Ky Duyen was born in Saigon, Vietnam, but grew up in the United States. Her family first settled in Fairfax, Virginia, then moved to Huntington Beach California where she attended Marina High School. Today, Ky Duyen makes her home in Orange County.

While growing up, Ky Duyen has had her stint in many professions. In her late teens, she had her own photo studio dedicated to photographing fashion layouts. Through her connections with many of the models, she was often asked to introduce them on various fashion shows in Southern California. In many ways, this was her introduction to the world of show business and being the master of ceremony (MC). Her first debut as a MC was at Long Beach's Hoa Hau Ao Dai show. Nguyễn Cao Kỳ Duyên (born 13 November 1996) is a Vietnamese model, actress, and beauty pageant titleholder, she won Miss Vietnam 2014^[1] and Miss Universe Vietnam 2024. She represented her country at Miss Universe 2024 in Mexico City, Mexico on 14 November 2024.

Personal life

Kỳ Duyên was born in Nam Định. Her parents run a bridal shop, and her older brother is an IT engineer. Due to her parents admiration for the overseas TV presenter and entertainer Nguyễn Cao Kỳ Duyên, they decided to name her after the artist. She started learning French in fourth grade, later becoming a student in the French specialized class at Trần Đăng Ninh Middle School and later at Lê Hồng Phong High School for the Gifted. In 2014, she was admitted to the Foreign Trade University with a high score. At the time however, she competed in Miss Vietnam 2014, so she dropped out to follow her professional model career.^[2]^[3]

Kỳ Duyên was born on June 30, 1965, in Saigon, South Vietnam as the only daughter to Nguyễn Cao Kỳ, a former South Vietnamese Prime Minister, Vice President, and Air-Force General. Her father was from Sơn Tây and grew up in Hanoi. Her mother is Đặng Tuyết Mai who was from Bắc Ninh and also spent most of her childhood in Hanoi.
