The Melton Foundation promotes and enables global citizenship as a way for individuals and organizations to work together across boundaries of place and identity to address global challenges.
The Melton Foundation is an international 501(c)(3) non-profit organization registered in the USA, and a leading proponent of global citizenship practice worldwide. Before the over 500 fellows around the world, the dozen international events, and the impactful collaborations and projects connecting across continents, the Melton Foundation started little. With only eight students -four in Germany, four in the United States-, the Foundation took the first steps towards what would turn into decades of impactful collaboration and cross-cultural learning programs that would benefit thousands of students around the globe.
The Melton Foundation was founded in 1991 by entrepreneur William (Bill) Melton and activist Patricia Smith. As the decade was marked by crucial events worldwide (economic and social change in India and China, the end of the dictatorship in Chile, the fall of the Berlin Wall, etc.), Patricia and Bill took the step to build an organization that would help bridge gaps on intercultural communications, to enable a cross-cultural collaboration towards the wor

Peace X Peace (pronounced “peace by peace”) is a nonprofit women's organization founded in 2002 that promotes building peace through online communications.
History
Peace X Peace was founded in 2002 by Patricia Smith Melton, who gathered experts in peace and women's rights from around the world (including Isabel Allende, the Chilean novelist; Susan Collin Marks, the Australian-born co-founder of Search for Common Ground; and Fatima Gailani, the Afghan head of the Red Crescent) to elaborate a women's response to the September 11 attacks.
