Miles Aldridge rose to prominence in the mid-nineties with his arresting, highly stylised photographs with references to film noir, art history and pop culture. An acclaimed colourist, he renders elaborate mise-en-scènes in a palette of vibrant acidic hues. These glamorous, frequently eroticised images probe society’s idealised notions of domestic bliss where sinister undercurrents swirl beneath a flawless surface. Aldridge has worked prolifically for more than twenty-five years, and today he remains one of the few photographers still shooting predominately on film. His creative output encompasses large-scale c-type prints, Polaroids, screenprints, photogravures and drawings.

Miles Aldridge (born 29 September 1964) is a British fashion photographer and artist.
Early life
Born in North London to graphic designer Alan Aldridge, Miles grew up accustomed to celebrity – John Lennon was a family friend, as well as Eric Clapton and Elton John.[2] When he was a child, he posed with his father for Lord Snowdon. Biography
Miles Aldridge was born in London in 1964, into an artistic family. His father, Alan Aldridge, is a well-known illustrator and a pivotal figure in the development of the psychedelic aesthetic of the 1960s. Following in his father’s footsteps, Aldridge studied illustration at Central Saint Martins in London. After completing school, however, Aldridge and his father’s paths diverged; Aldridge directed music videos for several years before settling on a career as a fashion photographer in the 1990s.
Aldridge’s background in illustration as well as his passion for film influences his work. His images contain women posed in scenes with a heavily cinematic quality. The photographer’s choice subject, women, are usually seen lost in thought or seemingly prescient that something is about to happen. Aldridge also uses intensely saturated colors and erotic undertones to add a dramatic dimension to his work.
In order to achieve his signature cinematic effect, Aldridge makes a drawing first and meticulously plans each aspect of his image from the exact lighting to the color pal
